Revolutionizing PEMWE Cost at Scale:
Hydrogen Contango has dedicated years of R&D efforts to achieving a breakthrough in PEMWE cost competitiveness. Our latest HCCT (H2 Crossover Control Technology) enables ultra-thin PEM designs, unlocking unprecedented cost advantages:
- 150 €/kW stack cost – beating the industry’s most aggressive pricing targets
- highest current density at moderate temperature (controlled durability risk)
- lower material cost & secure (internal) supply chain for critical components (IrO2, Pt, PEM)
- optimized production efficiency & yield leveraging our CCM GW-factory
Groundbreaking Test Results:
Our 50 μm MEA design is undergoing rigorous validation in real stack environment, having passed crucial milestones:
– stack validation in progress (1100 h completed)
- cell design: 50 μm PEM, 1.0|0.4 mgIr|Pt/cm2, proprietary PTL & BPP
- stack design: 1350 cm2, 10 cells, flow field optimized for thin CCM
- testing environment: customers’ 100 kW PEMWE stack test platforms
- KPI: <1.81 V @3.5 A/cm², 65 °C, 1.8 MPaH2; H2-in-O2 <0.15%
- total runtime: 1,100 hours (as of 2025-04-21, ongoing)

short stack stability test (various pressure levels)
– Sub-scale long-term test (@ constant current)
- test setup: 25 cm2 single cell, ambient pressure, same MEA design as in stack
- KPI: <1.8 V @3.5 A/cm², 65 °C
avg. voltage attenuation: ~3 μV/h (declining trend) - total runtime: 6,660 hours (as of 2025-04-21, ongoing)
